Vacation time!

I'm on vacation this week. Taking the family up to Lake Michigan to do a little swimming. I'll be back next week with a message from Jonah 3:10-4:4.

Tim, I am writing about Jona's attitude toward discipling the people of Nineveh. Things like how his attitude helped or hindered the outcome of his ministry. did it bring the sailors closer to God. did it help the people of Nineveh in the long run etc.. your thoughts would help. This is for credit in my class. Dick B

Dick,
I don't think Jonah really did anything helpful in regards to discipling besides just telling the Ninevites about God overthrowing their city. He seems to have only cared for himself and was actually upset that God didn't destroy them (4:1-3).

I do know that about 30 years after Jonah preached to the Assyrians they destroyed the Northern Kingdom of Israel. 100 years after Jonah preached to them Nahum announced that God would destroy them for their wickedness.

Does that help?
